Biotech Farms Inc. officially launched its 3K Advocacy Program or ”Kabisig sa Kalusugan at Kaalaman” a school feeding program which aims to address malnutrition for elementary pupils.

The program is a 60 – day supplementary school feeding activity which supports the implementation of Department of Education’s School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) and as part of the annual shared values activities of Biotech Farms Inc.

This year 72 student from Kindergarten to Grade 6 with Body Mass Index (BMI) level of undernourished (wasted and severely wasted) will benefit the program. The event happened last July 30 in Luayan Elementary School at Dumadalig, Tantangan and July 31 in Aida Gonzales Elementary School at San Vicente, Banga.  The launch was attended by the student beneficiaries, their parents, teachers, Department of Education Region XII officials, Barangay Officials, District Health Representatives and Biotech’s active volunteers.

To help meet Biotech’s mission and supplement the 3K Advocacy Program, #BiotechHopes was also launched which helps raise awareness of the benefit of daily egg consumption. Eggs are among the most nutritious food on the planet and contain nutrients that the body needs especially for undernourished children. Biotech believes that proper nutrition will help improve the students’ performance by making them more energized and more participative in school activities.

Aside from the launching of the programs, Biotech Farms also donated 1 year supply of seeds for the schools’ vegetable garden in support of this year’s Nutrition Month with the Theme: “Ugaling Magtanim, Sapat na Nutrisyon Aanihin”.

Some of the event highlights include talks from Dep Ed and Biotech Farms representatives about the partnership and the importance of the responsibilities of each sector that must be cohesively and consistently provided to reach the goal for the 3 months feeding. Aside from feeding the program also includes deworming of pupils to fully get the nutrient of the food intake, lecture on good grooming and healthy habits for children, lecture on parent responsibilities and values formation in which parents have the bigger participation for this intervention through food preparation and guiding their children to inculcate the purpose of this program.

The launching of Biotech’s 3K Advocacy Program and Egg Awareness Campaign is a testament of its mission in serving the community towards a better life.
